Energy Coast UTC has become the latest UTC to be awarded an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report.

Cherry Tingle, Principal of Energy Coast UTC described the achievement as exceptional, with the outstanding classification spanning every single area of inspection. A delighted Ms Tingle, who took over the helm in September 2016, said it was a very significant judgement and that everyone involved with UTC was over the moon with the highest possible classification. Inspectors said Ms Tingle had ‘systematically and very skilfully developed high-quality leadership skills in all school leaders and managers’. Scarborough UTC team win place at World F1 in Schools Finals in Abu Dhabi after UK Finals triumph

Scarborough UTC entered the F1 in schools contest the year first competing in the regional finals in December where they won the awards for best engineered car, sponsorship & marketing and team identity along with second overall. They progressed onto the national finals in March at Airbus UK, where the team, Avidity Racing, won three awards. This week Bloodhound Land Speed Record (LSR) officially announced the opening of their new headquarters in the heart of the SGS Berkeley Green UTC campus. Under the new ownership of Ian Warhurst, CEO of Grafton LSR Ltd, the Bloodhound LSR team will focus on completing development of the jet- and rocket-powered car and moving on to high speed testing as soon as possible. Project-Based Learning and employer engagement in University Technical Colleges offer lessons for schools

The Evaluation of University Technical Colleges report, produced by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), evaluated PBL and employer engagement in two phases. In this second phase of its research, three leading University Technical Colleges (UTCs) in Liverpool, Reading and Aston were examined in depth to explore the benefits of embedding these concepts in the curriculum and gaining strong and committed employer engagement over a sustained time period. More than 140 students from University Technical Colleges (UTCs) across the country have qualified for Gold Duke of York Awards for Technical Education. HRH The Duke of York presented awards to students at a ceremony at St James’s Palace on Wednesday 30th January.
