New applications for UTC submitted as part of the latest free schools wave

Three applications were made for new UTCs in the latest free school application round which closed in November. Wave 14 was open to all mainstream applicants and focussed on areas where there is both a need for more school places and low educational standards. Application guidance also asked for schools that will bring innovation to the wider education system and diversity to local provision, including those that will prepare children for technical pathways. Academy Ranked Top Sixth Form In Coventry

WMG Academy Coventry has been ranked as the TOP sixth form in Coventry, according to official school performance tables published this week. The academy’s sixth form is number one out of 26 in the city, ahead of all state-funded and independent schools. WMG Academy Coventry boasts the only sixth form in the city to be classed as ‘well above average’ in the Government’s main sixth form measurement, Progress Score. Royal Academy of Engineering Trip

A small group of our Year 10 engineering students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Royal Academy of Engineering in London for their summer science exhibition. Students had the opportunity to present their engineering project ‘Green Power Racing’ and other STEM projects to other schools, engineers and employers. Lincoln UTC Awarded for Careers Excellence

For the second time since opening Lincoln UTC has achieved a Career Mark, the national award for career advice and guidance approved by the Department of Education. In October 2016 Lincoln UTC became the first University Technical College in the country to receive Career Mark 6. There are nearly 3 million people working in cyber security worldwide, according to the 2019 (ISC)2 Cyber Security Workforce study. The UK has around 289,000 people whose job includes security responsibilities but another 4 million people are needed to tackle a skills shortage and to fill current and future roles.
