Ron Dearing UTC adds 50 extra places following huge demand

Ron Dearing UTC has opened up an extra 50 student places in response to huge demand to be part of its first intake. The Hull based UTC, which opens in September 2017, specialises in digital technology and mechatronics and had planned to take in 150 students for the first year. However, applications have already outstripped that level so the UTC has applied successfully to the Department for Education to increase the first-year intake to 200 students. UTC Sheffield students win big at WorldSkills UK competition

UTC Sheffield engineering students took home a haul of medals from the WorldSkills UK competition. The prestigious event, held at The Skills Show careers exhibition in Birmingham from 17-19 November, covered skill areas in construction and engineering through to creative and hospitality. UTC Leeds welcomes guests to its official opening

UTC Leeds has officially opened its doors as it welcomed civic and business leaders from Leeds and Lord Baker, Chairman, Baker Dearing Educational Trust, the charity which promotes and sustains UTCs, for a tour of the new state of the art school on Friday 21 October. New grant fund for supporters of quality technical education

Education charity Edge Foundation has launched the Edge Grant Fund for educational and not-for-profit organisations’ projects, which support Edge’s aims. The grant will award £1million in funding on a biennial basis. Students from UTCs across the country received the Duke of York Award for Technical Education from HRH The Duke of York at a ceremony held at St James’s Palace on 11 Oct 2016.
