The Wigan UTC can improve the economic chances of young people, through increasingly specialising in a technical curriculum of manufacturing engineering (food production) and the green economy, environmental technology, and providing academic qualifications. There is a need to tackle low aspirations and ensure young people are upported to develop underpinning employability competencies and evelop skills of ICT and entrepreneurship.
