Specialism: Biomedical science | Environmental science | Technology
Date of opening: September 2014
Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology is one of the most exciting innovations to take place in education, offering specialist science to a generation ready to become part of the global network of biomedical and environmental science and technology professionals. Backed by Cambridge University Health Partners and Cambridge Regional College, it will provide a curriculum closely aligned to the needs of the local and national labour market.
Based in Cambridge, home to the world-leading Biomedical Campus, the UTC will deliver an education supported at every stage by leading employers and research centres. Students will be inspired to achieve above and beyond their expectations, learning the qualifications and skills to excel in a new £10 million building with sector-leading facilities.
CUHP is supportive of the proposed UTC because the University and its NHS partners have a major role as employers of technicians and related staff supporting the local health and biomedical-based economy.Patrick Sissons

We are a major employer in the area, employing people with a range of skill sets - we would benefit from motivated, enthusiastic, passionate young people ready to enter the workplace in areas of our pharmaceutical business. Supporting the UTC would give us the opportunity to shape what employers want from the next generation of employees.David Silver
