Date of opening: September 2010
JCB Academy opened in 2010 and was the first ever UTC to be established in the UK.
Situated in Rocester, Staffordshire, JCB Academy specialises in engineering qualifications for 14-19 year olds. It is sponsored by JCB, alongside other businesses including Bentley Motors, Network Rail and Rolls-Royce. These partners provide work experience to students during their studies and offer apprenticeships and full-time jobs to graduates of the academy.
Traditional academic GCSEs and A Levels including English, maths, science and humanities are integrated into the curriculum, ensuring students gain a wide range of skills across both technical and academic areas. This gives them the best options possible when they leave school, whether they choose to progress to an apprenticeship, university, or go straight into work.
