The UTC will be an aspirational destination for many local young people and offer them their best available life chances. The pedagogy will facilitate increased enthusiasm for learning within the cohort by delivering real life learning relevant to their futures. The specialisms of the UTC of design, engineering and manufacturing will be used as the primary driver for an activities based curriculum that establishes a curriculum model that is challenging and exciting and provides all learners with a combined educational model of vocational focus with academic rigour. The extended curriculum will encompass a variety of actions to produce a rounded individual and to give a wider learning brief.
I am delighted to give my strongest possible support to the development of a UTC for Central Bedfordshire and the region. We are keen to ensure that young people are given improved opportunity to gain technical skills and the confidence required to progress to careers in such areas. Professor James Crabbe, Dean of Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies and Science, University of Bedfordshire As an international company we cover a scope and range of design, technical and innovative production visions that require the full range of technical and intellectual activities from our employees. We are pleased to support the development of this UTC. Keith Delderfield, Vice-President Operations, B/E Aerospace (UK) Ltd
