This year marked the first time UTC students successfully secured places at the University of Cambridge.
Jake Stuchbury-Wass and Oliver Smith, who studied at UTC Sheffield, will study Engineering at Cambridge having both secured A* grades in maths, further maths and physics, and distinction* grades in their engineering technical qualifications.
I feel really proud and very relieved. Studying at the UTC has really prepared me for my longer term university and career ambitions, and I want to thank the teachers for all of their support.
Surprised by his results, Oliver said:
I felt shocked and very pleased when I opened the results envelope as my grades have exceeded what I needed to get into the University of Cambridge. It feels a real accomplishment to have got in and it’s also great for the UTC.
Another UTC student who will be attending the University of Cambridge is Will Barnes from UTC Oxfordshire. He will study Computer Science at Cambridge having achieved A* in all four of his A-levels.
