
Chairman, Lord Baker
Kenneth Baker was a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1968 to 1997 and held many senior Government positions, including Local Government Minister; Environment Secretary; Education Secretary; and Home Secretary. He was the first Minister for Information Technology introducing computers into schools. At Education he introduced his Great Education Reform Bill revolutionizing education through the National Curriculum, testing and league tables; City Technology Colleges became forerunners of specialist schools and Academies; greater freedom for schools by becoming grant-maintained; and polytechnics were freed from council control to become universities. Lord Baker is Chair of the Baker-Dearing Educational Trust.
Chief Executive, Peter Mitchell
Peter is Chief Executive of the Baker Dearing Educational Trust. Peter was a trustee of Edexcel for six years before becoming a founding trustee of Edge which promotes vocational and practical learning. In 2007 he was appointed as Edge’s full time Education Director, is Chairman of Governors of Edge's Academies and was interim CEO for 12 months until July 2011.
Director of Operations, Charles Parker
Charles has been involved with the academies programme for twelve years as a sponsor and project manager. He was until 2010 Academies Adviser to Partnerships for Schools and is an expert on processing applications through the Department for Education. Since 2010 he has been Director of Operations at Baker Dearing Educational Trust and Finance Director at Faber Music Ltd.
Director of Programmes, Jane Ware
Jane has responsibility to build and maintain a programme of activities and support services for all member UTCs, to guard the UTC brand and ensure the concept remains true to the vision and high standards of Lord Dearing and Lord Baker. Formerly Head of Policy and Research at the Specialist Schools & Academies Trust, Jane is also Founder and Director of Chosen Ltd a marketing communications company operating in the sphere of education.
Director of University Partnerships, Alison Halstead
Professor Alison Halstead is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching Innovation at Aston University. In 2005 she received a National Teaching Fellowship for her innovative curriculum development and academic leadership and in 2008 became one of the first Senior Fellows of the Higher Education Academy. 
Executive Assistant, Lena Kokkolas
Lena worked in music and entertainment retail for 10 years before joining Edge in 2006. Lena now works for the Baker Dearing Educational Trust as executive assistant to the Chief Executive and Chairman, supporting them in all aspects of the UTC rollout. 
Senior Adviser, Christine Whatford CBE
Christine has joined us as a Senior Adviser covering UTCs in London and the Home Counties. Christine was Headteacher of Abbey Wood mixed comprehensive school and went on to be Director of Education in Hammersmith and Fulham. Since then she has been working as an education consultant and has acted as Interim Director of Education at Tower Hamlets and Interim Director of Children's Services in Greenwich.
Senior Adviser, Colin Howell
Colin joined us on 1st February 2012 as a Senior Adviser covering UTCs in the North of England. Colin is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor who has been Academies Director of Partnerships for Schools for the last seven years. He specialises in construction procurement and delivery and in the development of innovative funding solutions.Finance Director, Ian May
Ian has joined us as Finance Director and Company Secretary. Ian has a variety of experience in both the private and charitable sectors covering a range of areas from industrial, retail to education. He was, until recently, Finance Director of St Paul's School and the Finance Manager of the Hammersmith Academy during its construction.
Senior Education Adviser, David Harbourne
David has joined us as Senior Education Adviser. David’s career started in the Ministry of Agriculture. Later, he was chief executive of the National Association of Master Bakers, the Hospitality Training Foundation and North Yorkshire Training and Enterprise Council, and Executive Director of the Learning and Skills Council North Yorkshire. He has worked with Edge Foundation since 2005 and is now Director of Research, with particular focus on curriculum development.
Team Assistant, Stephanie Fogarty
Stephanie is our invaluable team assistant and will be with us until the summer when she leaves to take up her place teacher training on a Primary PGCE course at St. Mary’s University in Twickenham in September.The Baker Dearing Educational Trust Trustees are:
